God’s Providence

In our secular culture today we are taught that everything in the universe came about through the random-chance interaction of matter or the works of men. This is taught to our children beginning in nursery school and trumpeted through every aspect of the secular culture. But, is this reality? Let’s see what God’s Word says about this:

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained. (Psalm 65:9)

Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. (Acts 14:17)

He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate – bringing forth food from the earth:… (Psalm 104:14)

Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. (Matthew 6:26)

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. (Hebrews 1:3)

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:16-17)

These verses describe the true reality that is clearly seen. But, many chose to reject the truth with severe consequences as described in the next verses.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20)
