Director:  J.D. Mitchell, P.E., BSME, MBS

A.  History: The Institute for Creation Science (ICS) was first established in March of 2005 in Gresham, Oregon. In July of 2008 the Board of Deacons of Rivercrest Community Church of Portland, Oregon approved ICS as a ministry outreach program at that church.

B.  Mission & Purpose:  To explore the creation versus evolution controversy; to educate others regarding the evidences for creation; to train Christians in biblical creation apologetics; to disseminate the truths of biblical inerrancy and biblical authority; to win souls to Jesus Christ.

C.  Mission Area:  The neighborhood, the city, the state and the world.

D. Meetings:  Meetings are held monthly at RCCC facilities.  Meeting format consists of live and video programs by knowledgeable creation science presenters followed by Q&A/Discussion periods. There is normally no charge to attend meetings.  Free will offerings may be accepted at some meetings.  Rivercrest Community Church is located at 3201 NE 148th Avenue in Portland, Oregon 97230. E.  Organization:  ICS is a regular evangelical and educational outreach program of RCCC under the direct oversight of the Rivercrest Community Church Board of Deacons.  Any and all (non-disruptive) people are welcome at ICS-RCCC meetings.  All ICS-RCCC operations are under the authority of a program director who is appointed by the Deacons Board. 

F.  Examples of Opportunities for Service: 

     1.  Attend meetings and learn and grow in the Christian faith.

     2.  Audiovisual assistance (e.g. to tape meeting presentations).

     3.  Marketing and promotion of meetings and products of ICS-RCCC.

     4.  Set up and tear down for meetings.

     5.  Publication and video sales at meetings.

     6.  Provide refreshments at meetings.

     7.  Scientific, educational, biblical research.

     8.  Develop creation science presentations for children, youth and/or adults.
