APOLOGETIC FOR CHRISTIANS

THE APOLOGETIC FOR CHRISTIANS

“FUTILE THINKING & FOOLISH HEARTS”

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.   Romans 1:20-22 (NIV)

As a Young Earth Creationist (Biblical Christian) my beliefs are most often attacked by people in two separate groups. The first group consists of Christians who do not accept the Bible’s plain teaching of a recent six-day creation and a cataclysmic worldwide flood.

The Apologetic (Defense) I provide for this group of Christians is as follows:

People can and do believe anything. What you as a Christian want to believe is up to you. However, you need to understand that evolution (change from one kind to another kind) and millions of years are not anywhere to be found in the Bible (God’s Word). Evolution and millions of years are presuppositional concepts based directly on deism and atheism. These are God rejecting philosophies (not science!) which were formalized in the 18th and 19th centuries, and which thoroughly permeate our present day culture due to decades of media and academia indoctrination (a.k.a. secular humanism).

Why you as a Christian would want to distort the truth of God’s Word and accept atheistic and deistic philosophy into your faith is a question you alone can and must reconcile in your own mind. Have you not noticed the significance of the fact that so many of your arguments against Biblical Christianity are based on the ever changing speculations of secular science?

My recommendation is that you carefully analyze your presuppositions to see if you really want to hold to them. A Christian faith which accepts atheistic and deistic presuppositions is not at all consistent, but rather is just the opposite (totally inconsistent). Do not succumb to “futile thinking” and a “foolish heart.”

In Christ,

J.D. Mitchell
