The Church Body

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (Romans 12:4-5)

In the body of Christ no one is to think of himself more important than others. All are vital for the health of the Church. It is prideful for an individual member to think otherwise.

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6)

I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. (Romans 12:3)

The Apostle Paul reminds us in another book where it is that we get our knowledge, gifts and abilities and reinforces the importance of humility:

For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? (1 Corinthians 4:7)
