But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5)

I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power. Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me; to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ… (Ephesians 3:7-8)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Summary: Grace only comes from God to the humble as a gift. And God opposes the proud. The greatest aspect of the gift of grace is eternal life in Christ.

It is not always easy for the Christian to follow these dictates. When tempted to act against others with a lack of humility these verses, and many others in the Bible, remind us of God's will regarding the importance of humility.
