When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. (Matthew 7:28-29)

In this Scripture we see that Jesus had authority in his teaching of doctrine because he was (and is) God. No mere human can have authority in the same sense, of course. But believers do have authority as they obey God's teachings as provided in the Bible.

From this we can conclude that believers need to be in the doctrine of God. We need to be “indoctrinated” by God's word.

In our worldly culture to admit that one is indoctrinated in anything would be looked down upon, even though our secular schools and media constantly indoctrinate the populace in naturalism and materialism.

It is better by far to be indoctrinated by God's word, and the only way that can happen is to be in it each and every day. Read your Bible!
