We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. (1 John 2:3)
Here we are reminded that in order to obey God's commands we must know and obey his word. And, we find his word where? We find it in the Bible. It seems so simple and straight forward. It is not complicated at all!
Yet, the Old Testament is filled with examples of Israel's rebellion against God. Similarly today, our sinful natures reign and we too are often disobedient to God. It is so tempting to disobey what we know God would have us do in our lives. How often we would rather substitute our selfish wills for God's.
Our best advice is to resist Satan and the evil lures of the ever more secular world that he controls. A discipline of daily Bible study along with prayer is the only way to be successful at following this advice.
