Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God. (Hebrews 6:1)

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. (Hebrews 6:18-19)

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. (Hebrews 6:10-11)

For Christians our hope begins at salvation, of course. But for believers that is not the end of the journey since God has promised us encouragement through his Word and for our faith and patience even when we experience persecution.

We live in a troubled, nasty world. The goal of ongoing maturity in our hope is a worthy one. Amen.
