The “battle” between darkness and light is a continuing theme in the Bible. Light is good and darkness is not good.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4)

“I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6b)

“Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” (Isaiah 60:3)

“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire, says the LORD Almighty. Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing on its wings.” (Malachi 4:1-2)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Through Christ we have light and without him is only darkness. In the New Jerusalem there will be no need for the sun and moon for all the light will emanate from the glory of God and the Lamb. (Revelation 21:23)

These are good things to remember!
