The first human institution established by God was marriage. The prolonged period of human infancy requires the careful protection and training of children by their parents. God ordained that the home, built on mutual love and respect of husband and wife, should be the basic human unit of authority and instruction.
Both ethnologists and anthropologists find evidence that the permanent union of a single man to a single woman is the ideal arrangement upon which to base society. Whenever this pattern is broken, problems result. The history of previous civilizations shows that when the family unit deteriorates, so does the society. We need only look around to see that this is a fact.
