But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. (1 Samuel 12:24)

There are numerous verses in the Bible similar to this verse where we are admonished to fear the LORD. Of course, to fear the LORD is to respect and honor him, not be afraid of him.

Importantly, several of those verses also emphasize a requirement that we are to fear and serve him. Another example is from Joshua 24:14: Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshipped beyond the River and in Egypt and serve the LORD. This is the verse prior to the one where Joshua committed his household to serving the LORD.

Also, Fear the LORD you God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. (Deuteronomy 6:13)

From these verses it should be easily seen that we are not only to fear God but are to serve him! One way to serve him is to commit to your own or another Christian ministry. Have you done that yet?
