God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:10)

Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. (Genesis 2:19)

The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)

These Scriptures communicate a similarity between how God created the land, the animals and man. New Age religions and ancient pantheistic philosophies promote the idea that man is no better than animals and in some cases even inferior – or perhaps an insignificant component of the Mother Earth. But, the Bible tells us that we are not the same as these other created things.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

At the time of the Fall mankind's position became tarnished. But the Christian can know that in Christ his superior position is secure.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on a new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 3:10)
