So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel! (Joshua 10:13-14)
Christians thank God continually for uniformity in the universe and for answered prayer. From uniformity we can expect that the laws of nature will normally be constant and consistent. For examples, that the sun will rise and set in a regular predictable manner and gravity will be in play wherever we travel.
With our prayers we often ask God to suspend uniformity for those special occasions that His will matches our unique needs. Why then would any believer question that God could have stopped the sun for a day in the time of Joshua? Our Creator God is always able to do whatever is needed to accomplish His will! There is no need to search for natural explanations for supernatural happenings.
