Another New Year has arrived. Scripture puts some perspective on this.
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. (Genesis 8:22)
We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. In the past he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. (Acts 14: 15b-17)
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:16-17)
Secular science has no answers for the reason behind the laws of nature, why the atom holds together, or where time came from. Without the laws of nature it would be impossible to understand anything about our physical existence. It would also be impossible for all living things to exist. We can begin to understand these mysterious miracles only through a knowledge of the One who holds all things together.
