When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (Genesis 3:6)

For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. (1 John 2:16)

These two scriptures clearly describe the three-fold nature of Satan's temptations here on earth. Fleshly appetites, then emotional responses and finally spiritual pride. Satan has used this technique in the beginning and ever since, including this very day, as he masquerades thoughout the world and in the church as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

What are we to do against this formidable foe? The apostle James has good advice for us:
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)

Today, Satan's world presents us with daily trials that we can only endure with the help of our Savior. So, daily read the Bible, pray, and fellowship with other believers who also understand the methods of Satan.
