But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (2 Peter 3:10)

The New Testament is consistent with the promise that Christ will return some day, and that from that time on, things will be vastly different from the way they have been. We do not know the exact time for these changes, but we have been warned to live our lives in light of eternity rather than for the world that will pass away.

Chapter 21 of Revelation gives us great hope. It says there will be a new heaven and a new earth. The first earth will pass away and there will no longer be any sea. We will live with God and he will wipe every tear. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelation 21:4)

So, finally, the consequences of sin will be wiped away. No more curse or death for those who trust and obey!
