He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. (Revelation 19:13)

This name (the Word) for Jesus Christ is used elsewhere in the apostle John's writings. For example, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. (John 1:1-2)

Also, That which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. (1 John 1:1)

The Word has been in existence since the beginning, has been with God and is God. John's testimony comes from direct experience and is not made up fantasy. He and the other apostles saw Christ, heard Christ, touched Christ, learned from Christ, and are therefore uniquely qualified to directly report to us the truth of His Word. We would do well to pay close attention to every aspect of their report to us.
