God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46:1-3)

Deists and many of those I think of as Secular Christians, believe God is far away and that He just set things into motion to evolve to their present state over billions of years. To these people there is no such thing as a personal God. However, the Bible is clear that this position is absolutely incorrect.

Who would ever pray to a remote deistic god? Yet the scriptures urge constant prayer. How could there be such things as miracles if God is far away? Yes, the Bible is a supernatural book and describes many miracles from the past, and most Biblical Christians have personal experiences that confirm the reality of miracles in this world today. The true God is indeed a very personal God!

The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Psalm 46:11)
