Then Job answered the LORD; “I am unworthy – how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.” (Job 40:3-4)

At the beginning of the book of Job, God says about Job, “There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” (Job 1:8)

Obviously, Job knew his status in comparison to God was totally unworthy. Similarly, other famous men of the Bible recognized that compared to God they were nothing, or that without a mediator they had no hope of approaching God. Other examples are:

Abraham in Genesis 18:27.
David in Psalm 51:5.
Isaiah in Isaiah 6:5.
Daniel in Daniel 10:8.
Peter in Luke 5:8.
Paul in 1 Timothy 1:15.

Believers can know that it is a great privilege they have in Christ, who is our mediator.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men – the testimony given in its proper time. (1 Timothy 2:5)
