I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 4)

In this very short epistle of 3 John, the apostle concentrates our attention on the importance of the truth, and on the fact that the heart of the gospel is reconciliation with God through His truthful Word.

If we are “walking in the truth” we are in tune with God and the teachings of His only begotten son. When we do that we can expect to receive the immense joy inherent in the truth.

On the other hand, when we “turn our ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:4) we can expect no joy and no hope. It is critical for each Christian to adhere to sound doctrine in every aspect of his or her daily walk.

This apostle John also delivered the following words of Christ to us: I am the way and the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6) The importance of walking in the truth is certainly made clear in God's Word!
