For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)

rong>What a concept! For the secular world it is not at all understandable, because those holding tightly to this world have been taught to believe that all that matters exists in this life. Unfortunately, many in the Church have come to believe the same way.

Paul here is discussing the mixed feelings he has since he wants to leave this world to go to a much better place yet he knows he is needed just awhile longer here in this world.

He says, I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. (Philippians 1:24)

One of the things Christians are expected to do is to always rejoice in their privileged position as followers of Christ. Another is to look after the proper interests of others as prescribed for us by God.

So, we still have things to accomplish as long as we are here awaiting our greatly anticipated departure to heaven.
