I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 1:8)
In this verse Christ explains who he is. “Alpha” is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and so Christ was the Creator at the beginning. “Omega” is the last letter of the Greek alphabet and so Christ will one day triumph and make all things new once again.
Does Christ exist in the present? According to this verse he “is and was and is to come.” In Revelation 1:18 he tells us, I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
And this is who we are to completely trust. Jesus stresses his power, explains the mystery, directs us to not be afraid, and implores us to be faithful to the gospel in every situation.
Can we do these things as directed? It should be easy if we rely on Him!
