Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet will I rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised. (Job 1:21)

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Scripture is consistent with the idea that we are to be always thankful and filled with God's joy. This is not always so easily accomplished in practice. In this time of year we can find ourselves overcome with emptiness due to the materialism of the season. The following verse can be helpful in times like these.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

May you have a Blessed Christmas and a Glorious New Year!
