For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14)

Evidently Mordecai's words were powerful for Esther because she decided to go before the king at great peril to plead for her people. She decided that it was critical for her to supercede her personal safety and do that which was for the greater good. In Esther 4:16 she said, And if I perish, I perish.

What a brave woman!

In this day and age there are some who fight for the Christian cause at some peril, but not many here in the USA. The sad thing is how much grief a Christian often endures just for standing up for the faith as understood from the Bible; and that in a country that is supposed to have freedom of religion and freedom of expression. I have often asked myself what is Christianity if the Bible is minimized? I think the answer is that the faith becomes foundationless for it is from the Bible that we learn God's will for us and learn about His son Jesus.

The secularists of today do not want to hear anything from God's Word that might cause someone to be uncomfortable. They believe Christianity is a belief system that should be confined to the insides of churches only.

There need to be more like Esther who decide not to remain silent.
