Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. (Joshua 1:6)

Each day the Christian is confronted by what seem to be insurmountable challenges. The secular world bombards us with untruth, terrible temptations, and nearly continuous intimidations. But God tells us to be courageous and not give in to these things. In Romans 8:31 we are reminded that, If God is for us, who can be against us?

In Hebrews the author, after commending many for having great faith without receiving earthly reward exhorts us to, Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we can say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Joshua, with the help of God, had the expectation of improving conditions for the people of Israel. However, in these post-Christian times in America we can expect that the cultural environment for us will mostly likely not improve. This is a very trying situation and so we need courage not compromise.
