He [the LORD] will swallow up death forever. The sovereign LORD, will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. (Isaiah 25:8)

Death has been swallowed up in victory. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:54b-55)

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. (Revelation 7:17)

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:3-4)

These verses are describing the situation in heaven, the place that all believers look forward to as their eternal home. It is a place where we are promised there will be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

But, notice that God will first need to “wipe away every tear from [our] eyes.” Perhaps the saved will initially be crying because of the recognition of lost opportuites back on earth. Maybe there will be tears shed for the unsaved friends and family who did not accept the truth.

In any case the good news is that the LORD has spoken and death has been swallowed up through the actions of our savior. Thank you Jesus!
