My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. (1 John 2:1)
All people are saddled with the sinful nature inherited from the first Adam. Those who deny this fact are the ones most likely to sin the most because they do not understand reality.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… (Romans 3:23)
There is no one righteous, not even one… (Romans 3:10)
But the Bible also tells us that believers are privileged to have an advocate in Christ Jesus! Jesus who died for our sins works continuously on our behalf.
In Romans 8:34 Paul writes, Christ Jesus, who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
And, “intercede” means to plead in behalf of another. What a privilege indeed to be a Christian!
