We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his son, Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:3)

The apostle John was not just forwarding information that he gained in some round-about way. No, he was proclaiming what he and the other apostles had learned first hand. They had heard Jesus, they had seen Jesus, they had touched Jesus (1 John 1:1-2). They had experienced Jesus before and after His resurrection. There was no doubt in the minds of the apostles as to what the truth was or what true fellowship consisted of. John proclaimed to all and described it as the way to eternal life (1 John 1:2-3).

Since they knew the truth they were excited to share this information with others. They wanted to share in fellowship because they knew that this sharing would result in fellowship with a personal God.

How thankful we believers are that this wonderful fellowship has been made available to us! The invitation stands that others, too, can join in  fellowship with us.
