I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. (Luke 24:49)
Here Jesus directs the apostles to not go out into the world as His truth ambassadors without the proper preparation. In this case He is speaking about being clothed with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 1:8 He provides additional information saying, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
In Ephesians 6:11 Christians are told to Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. Later we learn this armor consists of the “belt of truth,” the “breastplate of righteousness,” the “gospel of peace,” the “shield of faith,” the “helmet of salvation,” and the “sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.”
Any Christian who does not heed these words will be ill prepared to resist Satan and his minions in today's ongoing culture war.
