Observe them [God's decrees and laws] carefully for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him? And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today? (Deuteronomy 4:6-8)

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. (Acts 17:26)

Isreal was fortunate at its beginning to have God provide decrees and laws to make the operation of the nation more likely a success. Israel found over the centuries that when those laws were followed things went well for the nation, and when they did not obey, it did not go well for them.

America also set its foundation upon the laws of God. For example, the Ten Commandments are engraved in the Supreme Court building. Those who today want to minimize the effect of the Bible and Christianity on the foundation of the United States are clearly historical revisionists. It seems even most of those in government who personally believe in God's laws speak for them only with the authority of men.

And, it seems clear too, that as America moves further and further from its Christian foundations for law and justice it can expect judgments from God similar to those handed to the Israelites for their unrighteous transgressions.
